Ninjago is coming back. LEGO put out the first teaser for LEGO NINJAGO Legends: Embers + Ashes on November 6, and a second teaser followed today. The new series is set for 2027, and DiscussingFilm is calling it the Ninjago anime series, which is exactly why the timeline is going crazy over it.
What we know
- Title: LEGO NINJAGO Legends: Embers + Ashes
- Release: 2027. No exact date or platform yet.
- Story: The Brick Fan describes it as a continuation of the original Ninjago series with all new characters and storylines.
- Sets: LEGO showed off Ivo's Ninja Dojo (71888) the day before the teaser, and it's part of the show.
Why it matters
A lot of us grew up on Ninjago without even calling it anime. Spinjitzu, the elemental ninja, the dragons, that was a lot of people's first taste of that whole style before they ever found Naruto. Seeing LEGO lean into it with a new generation of characters tells you how big anime has gotten. Even the toy companies are building for it now. If you're new to anime and this is your door in, start with my anime recommendations for people new to the genre. And if LEGO games are more your thing, here's my LEGO game ranking.
