Wendy's made a JRPG. WendyQuest: Legend of the Four Corner Stones is a free, retro-styled, turn-based RPG headed to Steam, built by studio 81monkeys with pixel art and a pun budget that clearly had no ceiling. Wendy herself is the hero, sword in hand, out to save the kingdom of Savoria. The villain is Dr. Mechborg of Mech Corp, who's spread a curse called "Mechtosis" built from soggy fries and frozen beef. You collect four magic stones across five food-themed regions, and the enemy roster parodies rivals with names like Golden Archers and Mech Chicken.
The Steam page promises you'll earn real food as you play, though nobody has explained how that works yet. There's no release date, so for now it's a wishlist.
The line worth noticing is on the store page: the game calls itself 100% fresh and 100% human-made. In a year when AI-generated brand spots are everywhere, that's a fast-food chain using its beef slogan to plant a flag on how the game got made.
This isn't Wendy's first quest, either. Back in 2019 it put out Feast of Legends, a full tabletop RPG in the D&D mold. The brands that win in gaming are the ones that keep showing up after the stunt, and Wendy's has been doing this for seven years.
