The Campus Clash is a first-of-its-kind, multi-title collegiate esports tournament bringing together students from across the Atlanta University Center Consortium (AUCC). The event will feature competition in three major titles: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Marvel Rivals, and Valorant.
The tournament will feature over 30 student competitors representing all four AUC institutions: Morehouse College, Clark Atlanta University, Spelman College, and Morris Brown College. Each institution maintains an active esports presence, with a combined community of over 400 students and more than $400,000 in scholarships and competitive earnings across participants.
The event can be streamed on twitch.tv/cxmmunity and promoted by Cxmmunity Media, who launched the HBCU Esports League in 2020.
“We are excited to continue supporting the growing HBCU Esports ecosystem and the former students, like Kaleb Howard, who have stepped into major leadership roles within the HBCU gaming community,” said Ryan Johnson, Founder/CEO of Cxmmunity.
The clash is organized by Morehouse College graduate and co-founder of Maroon Tiger Gaming Kaleb Howard, who serves as the Director of Esports at Clark Atlanta University, and esports consultant Corey Harden, Technical Director of The Technology Lab (TLAB). Digital Humanities and Gaming Librarian Patrice Rogers will lead efforts to champion gaming and esports within the library.
Marking a historic milestone, this is the first AUC-wide esports tournament to feature multiple titles and the first esports competition ever hosted at the AUC Woodruff Library.
The event is a collaboration with TLAB, which is providing its Mobile Technology Lab (MTL) a one-of-a-kind, fully self-contained esports facility on wheels. The trailer is equipped with 13 high-performance gaming stations, full livestreaming capability, and the infrastructure to host or enhance esports events in virtually any location.
Beyond competition, TLAB operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and serves as a mobile STEAM classroom. The MTL supports educational programming in areas such as Intro to AI, game development, and music production. TLAB is a Black family-owned business based in Atlanta with the ability to travel interstate for events and programming.
This event serves as the foundation for future large-scale activations and cross-campus collaboration. With full production support powered by students from the AUC and Georgia colleges, the AUC Campus Clash highlights both competitive excellence and student-led innovation in esports broadcasting and event execution.
Watch the AUC Campus Clash this Friday at 10am EST on twitch.tv/cxmmunity. Participation information for the event can be found here.
