Resident Evil is back in theaters Friday, and the people who kept this franchise alive for thirty years are not sitting in a general market media plan. They’re on TikTok arguing about which remake got it right. So Cxmmunity put five of them in a room to settle the score.
The panel was produced by Cxmmunity Media in partnership with Sony Pictures and The 1964 Agency, built to land in the week before the film opens. King Vader, HardstopLucas, Khleo Thomas, Jay-Ann Lopez and Christian Isaiah spent half of it on the movie and the other half on whether any of them would last one night in Raccoon City.
The room
The roster is the point. Vader and Lucas built entire worlds out of sketch comedy. Khleo’s been on screen since he was a kid and never stopped playing. Jay-Ann runs Black Girl Gamers, which means she’s spent years inside a corner of this industry that had to keep explaining itself to people who weren’t listening and Christian made a name for himself as a series regular on Shameless.
Five different audiences, one conversation, nobody needing the franchise explained to them.
That last part is the whole design. Put people in the room who already care, give them space to be specific, and the content doesn’t have to perform enthusiasm. It just has to capture what’s already there.
How it’s built to travel
One shoot, ten days of work in front of it.
The full episode runs on YouTube and Instagram. Ten clips pulled from the same session are rolling out across Cxmmunity’s channels through Friday, each one posted as a collab with the creator who carried that moment, which means it lands on their grid and ours at the same time.
That’s the difference between a panel and a campaign. A panel is a video. A campaign is the same afternoon showing up in five separate feeds, in a different form, every day of release week.
Why this keeps working
Cxmmunity has run this play before, and the mechanic doesn’t change much from one partner to the next.
Find the creators an audience already trusts. Build something they’d want to be in whether or not a check was attached. Then put it everywhere at once, in the window where it matters.
Resident Evil over-indexes with exactly the audience a broad media buy reaches last and least efficiently. Meeting that audience means going where it lives, through people it already follows, in language nobody has to translate.
