Nintendo's September Direct just dropped a bunch of announcements, and while there’s lots to dig through, here are the highlights that got us excited—and probably you too. Whether you’re hanging onto your Switch or gearing up for the Switch 2, there’s plenty to look forward to.
After what almost felt like a decade, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is finally landing on December 4, 2025, exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2. To celebrate its announcement Nintendo provides a new look into the long-awaited game that features Samus riding a new motorcycle called Vi-O-La.
In addition to the announcement, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will be getting a amiibo including Samus and the Vi-O-Pa on November 6th, and the “enigmatic bounty hunter” Sylux on December 4th
Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be rereleasing as a bundle for both Switch and Switch 2 on October 2nd, 2025. For the Switch 2 version, it will come with new pages for the Rosalina Storybook. On top of that, a physical version of the storybook is set to release in the future!
Both of these beloved Wii classics come with improved UI, motion and button controls, a built-in music player, new Storybook content, and enhanced graphics including 4K support on Switch 2. Plus we’re getting a new amiibo on April 2nd, 2026 for Mario & Luma and Rosalina & Lumas.
Continuing the sports spin-off tradition, Mario Tennis Fever will deliver fast-paced, multiplayer tennis action with all your favorite Nintendo characters on Nintendo Switch 2. Though detailed release dates are yet to be confirmed, the game promises to blend familiar mechanics with fresh competitive features and vibrant new courts, continuing Nintendo’s knack for fun, accessible sports gameplay.
The Fire Emblem series expands with Fortune’s Weave for Nintendo Switch 2, slated for release in 2026. The new entry offers an intricate turn-based RPG experience with a fresh cast and intertwining storylines, promising strategic depth and character-driven narratives. The debut trailer set high expectations for the tactical challenges and emotional storytelling fans adore.
The classic horror Fatal Frame II is being revamped! The Twin Sisters Mio and Mayo Amakura make their return in Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake. The game has a unique approach as you play as Mio who has to use the Camera Obscura to reckon with ghosts. Fatal Frame II remake will have a completely new map for exploration and updated combat elements. The new installment will make its way to Switch 2, Playstation 5, Xbox, and PC.
Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem is officially getting a release date for Nintendo Switch 2, set to be released alongside its console rivals on February 27th, 2026 . Furthermore, it's been confirmed that Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil Village will be released on Switch 2 on February 27th as well.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A broadens its world with the Mega Dimension Stars DLC, introducing fan-favorite Mega Evolutions like Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y. Available this fall, the expansion adds new regions and legendary challenges, deepening the exploration and battle mechanics that define the series.
Nintendo also revealed Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, a charming new adventure for Nintendo Switch 2.
